I knew I could count on you. SO ... the deal is... I worked on it ALL DAY that Friday and a big chunk of the following Monday ... and I got 2 submissions done. I think they will go a bit faster from here now that I got some research to select agents under my belt and have truly finalized the proposal. This Friday I have more time set aside to keep submitting so I can hit that goal of 10. AND - I got my first rejection already today. Go me!

It's like applying for jobs but sort of worse...you have to personalize the query letter to them and then follow their unique submission guidelines. I had to copy paste my entire 60 page proposal into an online form...which messed up the formatting so I had to go through and reformat the whole thing.... It is not an easy button process!

I love the way I laugh out loud when I read your stuff. I can't help it! Question - I just finished reading Radical Candor by Kim Scott. Have you read it? Thoughts?

I love Radical Candor! It's one of my most-recommended leadership books. Care personally, challenge directly. I love how it benefits people all over the spectrum - whether you struggle with people pleasing, or you are kind a of a jerk sometimes - this book will help you get better at giving direct feedback. And anything with a 4-box matrix to help me understand the concept is gold in my book. What did you think of the book?

SOOO good. got me fired up about management again and the idea that there will always be a better way to lead people. Terrifying? Yes, but so hopeful. The acknowledgements sections brought the whole thing together for me, though - she mentioned that she first wanted to call it "Cruel Empathy" and it struck me how long it must take to get your thoughts down on paper. I know you're going through the same thing! Cannot wait to read your book!!

Also, Emma, I'm going to need to hear you sing some Chappell Roan soon. Are you into her?
